TQ 2582 NE CITY OF WESTMINSTER ELGIN MEWS SOUTH, W9 20/4 (west end) Nos 15 and 164A (No 164a 30.8.74 formerly listed under Randolph Avenue) GV II Pair of houses linked by mews arch. c.1864. Yellow brick in Flemish bond with red brick dressings and freestone detailing, partly painted. Each house 2 storeys. Monumental composition of 3 bays with central carriage arch. Italian Gothic style. Flanking pilasters with Lombard frieze in place of capitals supporting cornice. Round carriage arch with cogged moulding with red brick keystone under pointed hood-mould. To each side a triple group of windows, round-arched to No 164a, flat-headed C20 windows to No 15, in round-arched arcade with pointed heads with red brick banding supported on colonettes with spiral lower half and foliate capitals. Above windows sunken panels in red brick. later square openings to each side, beneath windows. Blocking course. Return fronts painted white and have round-arched sashes (except for one casement to ground floor of No 164a) with similar detailing to front. Cogged bands. Entrances to rear.
