KINGSGATE STREET 1. 1833 (East Side) Nos 8 & 9A SU 4829 SW 6/164 SU 4828 NW 8/164 24.3.50. II* GV 2. C18. 2 storeys and attic. Colourwashed brick, moulded brick string. Old tile roof. Originally 9 windows, now 6 windows. 2 blank and central bow window on 1st floor with triglyph frieze and moulded cornice. 3 doors on ground floor (one under bow window). Doors to No 8 plain casings with diamond ornament, surrounding rectangular fans. Central door has original door lantern in centre of fan. Six-panel door with panelled reveals. No 9A has door casing of Doric pilasters and entablature. Sash windows with glazing bars. Modillion cornice. Five modern dormers. Plaque as the home of Samuel Sebastian Wesley. All the listed buildings in Kingsgate Street form a group.
