SK 28 SW PARISH OF OFFERTON 2/69 12.7.67 Garner House and attached barn to north east (formerly listed as Garner House) II

Farmhouse and attached barn. C17 with additions and alterations in C18. Coursed rubble gritstone with quoins, coped gable with moulded kneelers to north east gable of house, intermediate and end stone ridge stacks with moulded caps. Stone slates and Welsh slates. Irregular form, with gabled projection at south east end, giving 'L' plan and with lobby entrance at junction of the two ranges. South east elevation; two storeys, three bays, the advanced wing a later addition. 3-light chamfer mullioned window to first floor, and two former 2-light flush mullioned windows to ground floor, now with mullions removed, and C20 joinery. Advanced wing has 2-light flush mullioned window to north east wall. Plain doorway with C20 glazed door. Rear elevation has two gabled projections, and between, a shallow semi-circular stair tower. Attached barn at north east end. Two storeys, three bays, with full height central doorway beneath timber lintel, and with quoined surround and vertically boarded double doors. Ventilation slits and two overloft openings with boarded doors. Later opening to ground floor to north east end, with stable door. Lower single bay addition to north east gable, with flight of stone steps rising to plank door. The barn encloses two 4-light chamfer mullioned windows (now blocked) to house north east gable, and the ridge obscures a former 2-light attic window, also blocked.
