12/122 South Lodge and gateway adjoining, east of Greystoke Castle

Lodge and main gateway to Greystoke Castle. Dated and inscribed H.H. 1846 (Henry Howard). Dressed mixed pink and grey sandstone walls, under graduated greenslate roof with raised coped gables; ashlar ridge chimney stacks. Single storey, 2 bays with right gate archway at right-angles. Segmental arch under Howard coat-of-arms and stepped battlemented parapet. Left smaller pedestrian doorway. Lodge has front centre plank door in Tudor-arched surround and flanking 2-light stone-mullioned windows. Left return wall, continuous with the archway, has angled bay window.
