SD4161 MAIN STREET, Heysham 939-1/7/13 (East side) 29/12/50 Nos.8, 10 AND 12

GV II

Row of 3 houses. Probably 1721 with C19 additions. Roughcast with slate roof. 2 storeys. No 10 is of 2 bays and has windows of early C18 type, chamfered with mullions flush with the wall face. All are of 2 lights, except for the right-hand one on the ground floor which is of 3 lights, and all surrounds are painted and contain casements with glazing bars. The central door has a cyma-moulded stone surround. Above, on the 1st floor, is a plaque inscribed: 'R B I 1721'. Nos 8 and 12 are each of one bay and have C20 casement windows in deeply-chamfered painted stone surrounds of C19 type. No 12 has late C20 louvred false shutters. Both have painted stone door surrounds. Their glazed timber doors and porch hoods are of late C20 date. Chimneys, with C19 ashlar caps, between houses and on gables.
