Parish church. C12 with early C14, C15 and C19 additions and restoration. Flint, with some rendering; thatched nave and chancel. C12 round tower with C15 west window; octagonal belfry stage added c1300 with 2-light bell chamber openings on 4 faces and similar patterns in flushwork in between. C15 crenellated parapet with fine flushwork; around the base are 4 large gargoyles interspersed with smaller carved heads. C12 nave with C15 window. Fine C12 north doorway (now within mid C19 vestry) with 2 orders of chevron moulding in 2 orders of colonettes. South porch of c1470, flushwork decoration, parapet with bank stone tracery. Doorway with square hood mould, carved spandrels and canopied niche above; C15 traceried doors. C15 south aisle, rebuilt 1848 by Doughty family of Theberton Hall. Chancel extended to east c1300. Earlier part is C12, with stone corbel table and (north side only) stone string course. Later part with 3-light brick window of c1500 on north side; Priest's doorway of c1300 and early C16 square headed 3-light window on south side. C12 blocked opening on north inside wall of nave, with roll moulding to arch head. Carved stone corbels support the wall posts of roof; plastered ceiling to nave and chancel. 3 bay arcade to south aisle (Doughty chapel); C19 painting to arcade and aisle roof. C15 octagonal font; C15 pulpit on modern base. Rood loft stairs with original door in north nave wall. Triple sedilia and trefoil-headed piscina in south sanctuary wall; aumbry with original door in north sanctuary wall. Part of fine stone traceried image niche in north vestry wall, evidently moved from elsewhere in the church. Grated for surviving medieval work.
