STOCKTON CHURCH STREET SP4363 (East side) 11/97 3 headstones approx. 1m. S of chancel and 1m. E of south aisle of Church of St. Michael
GV II
2 headstones. Limestone. One headstone is inscribed 'To ye memory of/William Crooke/gent who Depd this/life may ye 13th/1703 Aged 71 years'. Inscription has scrolled surround, and the top is carved with hour-glasses, skull and crossbones and a shrouded face. The other headstone is inscribed: 'To the memory of/Elizabeth ye Wife of/William Crooke Gent/who Depd this life/july ye 25th/Aged 58 years'. Similarly carved with scrolls, skull and crossbones, hour glasses and shrouded face. Third headstone is C19, and not of special architectural interest.
