MEASHAM HIGH STREET SK 31 SW 4/39 (North Side) No. 26 GV II Canal warehouse, now shop of c1800. Red brick - Measham gobs - with brick dentilled eaves and gable band and roof of C20 tiles. Front of 2 storeys: rear of 3. Painted front has 3 recessed half round openings with C20 windows above, long central fascia, and below a recessed central door in a former now altered giant arch with C20 windows either side. Left end abuts line of former canal which went under street at this point. Here a recessed giant arch with original 3 blank recessed windows, ground and 1st floor cambered lintels, 2nd floor round arched. Rear has recessed central arch and 3 2nd floor renewed windows with cambered lintels and C 20 brick flat-roofed extension. Ground floor right a large blocked arch originally serving as direct access to wharf. House to right forming part of No. 26 of lesser interest. This warehouse and Nos. 39-43 exactly opposite were originally designed as mirror images and constitute a noteworthy group.
