TL 71 NE FAULKBOURNE

2/41 The Post Rouse

GV II

Cottage. C17, altered in C19. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 3 bays facing SE with axial stack at left end. C19 one-bay extension to left, C19 single-storey extension to right. 2 storeys. SE elevation, 3 C20 casements and one small C19 casement on ground floor, 2 C20 casements on first floor. 2 half-glazed doors. SW gable end (towards road) one C19 horizontal sash of 16 lights on first floor, no aperture on ground floor. In right ground floor room of main building, chamfered axial beam with lamb's tongue stops, and plain joists of vertical section. In left ground floor room of main building, chamfered transverse beam and chamfered joists of horizontal section, both with lamb's tongue stops. Large wood-burning hearth facing to right, much altered in C20. Primary straight bracing. Formerly the Post Office. RCHM 10.
