TL 72 NW WETHERSFIELD CODHAM'S LANE (south side)
3/138 Dovecote approx. 30 21.12.67 metres west of Great Codham Hall
GV II
Dovecote. Late C18. Red brick in irregular bond, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. Square plan facing NE. One storey. Central doorway with 2-centred arch of 2 plain orders with plain pilasters. Oak door and frame. 2 dummy windows outlined in bricks projecting edge outwards, with 2-centred heads and plain labels, and a cross between them, similarly executed. Sides and back plain. Pyramidal roof with octagonal wooden cupola, ogival lead roof and weathervane. Aperture blocked. The interior has on each side a wooden rack of 3 tiers of 9 nestboxes supported on wooden brackets, those at the front and rear being above those at the sides, all of softwood. Earth floor.
