6/1 Chalton Windmill

16.3.54 II

Tower mill, now a dwelling. Early C19 with late C20 restoration, adaptation, and extension. Walls of painted brickwork, cambered openings. Metal-covered roof of ogee form. Circular structure of three storeys, with a C20 single-storeyed wing. Old small openings have casements, other casements and French windows are larger. Entrance in the wing. The restoration work includes traditional sails, without the slats and fixed in position. The building replaced earlier mills, which have existed since medieval times.
