HIGH STREET 1. 5231 (East Side) Fareham Street lamp outside Nos 65 and 66 SU 5806 SW 1/36 II GV 2. 1897. Cast iron lamp standard. Cylindrical plinth bearing date panel and name of town. From this rises a shaft with bulbous base bearing floral bas relief decoration. Shaft has an enriched band and terminates in cornice with cross arms, and a large curved lamp bracket with scrolls now fitted with electric light. All the listed buildings on High Street and Union Street, with the listed street lamps form a group, together with Nos 1 and 2 and the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul, Church Place and with the Red Lion Hotel and No 10 East Street. (No 45, High Street is of local interest).
