PAINSWICK HOLCOMBE SO 81 SE 2/128 Cottage at Holcombe End - II Small detached cottage. C17, but much C19 and C20 work. Squared and coursed limestone, concrete slates; one coped gable to saddle. Small two storey and attic, very large external stack to north side, with a re-built ashlar shaft. Entrance front has 2 over 2 + 1 over 3-light recessed chamfer stone mullioned casements under stopped hoods; at first floor both windows under one mould. South end has C20 openings and staircase to plank door at the first floor level. The interior retains very large chamfered beams at ground and first floor levels. Extensions to the north are not of special interest. It is possible that this was a service building such as kitchen or bakery to an earlier house on the site.
