Cinema, 1938. Architect David E Nye. Brick with faience and painted reconstructed stone(?) to front facade. 1 to 2 storeys. Bowed facade with 7-light window between vertical piers, and projecting canopy above entrance (now enclosed within late C20 facia). Late C20 replacement doors. Return to left with cantilevered projection room to first floor. Good surviving interiors. Main auditorium now partitioned, but decoration survives. Rich Art Deco proscenium arch with fibrous plaster decorations; horizontal wave motifs in plaster to walls punctuated with plaster shell decoration; circular light fittings to circle roof. Former restaurant area to rear of stalls with four fluted columns with fluted light fittings in place of capitals, and much fibrous plaster floral decoration. Double height entrance hall with grand staircase and original mirrors.
