COLSTON BASSETT CHURCH GATE SK63SE (south end) 4/4 Village Cross 1.12.65 GV II Village cross. Early base possibly C15, shaft of 1831. Sandstone base, limestone shaft. Octagonal 4-step podium. Classical shaft with entasis on moulded base and with square abacus and ball and stalk finial. The shaft was added to commemorate the coronation of William IV. Important village centre site. Scheduled Ancient Monument No. 40.
