  • Comment by Peter Charles Tufts on May 1, 2013

Reverend John Tufts was my Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather. His grandfather Peter was born in England & came to Medford/Malden & was the 2nd largest landowner north of Boston. His son Captain Peter Tufts was father to Reverend John. John graduated from Harvard in 1708 & the town of Newbury requested that he be their Reverend. He was ordained: June 30,1714. He married Sarah Bradstreet & they built the home on 750 Main Street (West)Newbury to raise their children. On March 2,1737, Reverend John Tufts was "Released from service" after being accused/investigated for "Immorality & Un-Christian Behavior" toward the women of his parish.
