Sclmeider Hall meets National Register Criterion C, and is significant for its display of Mid-century Modem architecture, an important part of Louisville's post-WWII architectural landscape. Built in 1956, Sclmeider Hall embodies the distinctive characteristics of Mid-century Modem architecture: large open spaces, minimal ornamentation and use of modem materials. On a campus ofbuildings rendered in Georgian and vaguer revival styles, Sclmeider Hall stands out. The building's architectural significance is evaluated within the context Modem Architecture in Louisville, Kentucky, 1945-1965.
