  • Pulteney Bridge Bath, England 1774

    Still lined with shops, this lovely stone bridge in Bath was designed by Robert Adam in the Palladian style and completed in 1774.

  • Old Bridge Florence, Italy 1345

    Replacing an ancient Roman bridge destroyed in a flood, the Ponte Vecchio was rebuilt in 1345, probably by the painter Taddeo Gaddi. It has been occupied by the shops of goldsmiths and silversmiths since 1593.

  • Rialto Bridge Venice, Italy 1588-91

    The oldest of four bridges spanning the Grand Canal in Venice, the Rialto Bridge was completed in 1592 to a design by Antonio da Ponte.
