Old Ursuline Convent
New Orleans, Louisiana

The Old Ursuline Convent in New Orleans has the honor of being the oldest building in the Mississippi Valley. It was constructed in French Colonial style 1745-53 for nuns from Normandy to nurse the poor and teach young girls.

Massie Common School House
Savannah, Georgia

The Massie Common School House was completed in 1856 to educate poor children. Today, it is a museum of Savannah history and architecture called the Massie Heritage Center.

Eleutherian College

Constructed 1854-56, Eleutherian College is the only remaining building associated with one of the first colleges west of the Allegheny Mountains to promote college-level equal educational experiences prior to the Civil War.

Bradish Johnson House

Now the home of McGehee School for Girls, the Bradish Johnson House at 2343 Prytania was constructed in 1872 in a Second Empire style, which is rare in the Garden District.

Trinity College
Cambridge, England
Great Court East range with Great Gate The lower stage of the Great Gate and the flanking ranges are surviving buildings of King's Hall, begun circa 1490. Building went on slowly until circa 1505 and then lapsed until 1528-9.

Logan Demonstration School
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
1923
Built in 1923, the Logan Demonstration School was part of an ambitious building program by the School District of Philadelphia in the early 1920s. Eight junior high schools and 15 elementary schools were built, many using the same plans.

Jacob Kamm House
Portland, Oregon
1871-1873
Currently home to the Alliance Française de Portland, the Kamm House was completed in 1873 to a Second Empire Baroque design by Justus Krumbein. It was moved a half-mile to its current location in 1950.
