2. Scheduled Ancient Monument. Exposed foundations on a sunk plot of ground; converted int a garden and immediatelyadjacent to houses above. Gully the base of the west front of the important Cathedral monastery of St Mary, founded l043, remains. Lower portions of clustered shafts and pier-responds. There is, or was until recently, a crudely vaulted crypt below, approximately 75 Yds x 5 yds. Vide Blue Coat School below.

Descriptive Notes, fifth and sixth lines, should be amended to read: "and pier responds Vide Blue Coat School below".
