We Met the Archbishop of Canterbury!
posted September 29, 2005 by Holly Hayes

Today's highlight was an evening lecture at Oxford's University Church of St. Mary. The speaker was the Archbishop of Canterbury, so I had it all marked on my calendar beforehand. For those who don't know, the Archbishop of Canterbury is the leader of the Church of England as well as the worldwide Anglican Communion (which includes Anglicans, Episcopalians and various other churches with roots in the Church of England)...

Short Update
posted September 27, 2005 by David Joyal

Not as much to report so far this week as we are actually settling in a bit. Holly has found the theology department and immediately proceeded to check out a number of books. I remain in awe that anyone would enthusiastically rip through Early Christian Thought and the Classical Tradition in less than two days, but she has done just that and has now moved on to other similar themed books...

Wolfson Cellar Bar
posted September 25, 2005 by David Joyal

While Holly finished posting the London pictures, I ventured down to the Wolfson College Cellar Bar last night. It turned out to be a very good time where I was able to meet an extremely diverse and interesting group of people...

Another lovely day in Oxford
posted September 24, 2005 by Holly Hayes

Today was a lovely clear day, very cold in the morning but actually rather warm in the afternoon. We had a nice, slow morning, taking care of laundry and other various things, and then took advantage of the pretty blue sky to do some walking and sightseeing...

Feeling a bit like a student
posted September 23, 2005 by Holly Hayes

Today's highlight was that, for the first time, I had some hint as to what it might feel like to be an Oxford student. So far I've felt more like a tourist with the luxury of having a whole week to explore the city, and it's been hard to believe that I will actually be studying here...

A brief update before bed
posted September 22, 2005 by Holly Hayes

It's been a long day and I'm beat, but I wanted to post a quick update before I hit the sack. Yesterday (Wednesday) was a nice quiet day. I stayed in most of the day, working on the online photo album and finishing Harry Potter, while David went out and shopped for cell phones and got his hair cut...

Belated updates
posted September 21, 2005 by Holly Hayes

Okay, now that we finally have internet I'd better update y'all on what we've been up to the past couple days. We kept thinking we'd have web access in our room any second so we didn't stop by the internet cafe as before...

Internet at last!
posted September 20, 2005 by David Joyal

Finally, internet access! We have been waiting (mostly impatiently) for Holly's student ID card that would allow us to open up a network account for our room...

Happy anniversary to us.
posted September 18, 2005 by Holly Hayes

Today is our one-year anniversary and we couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate it. We spent a good six hours today walking around and seeing the sights of Oxford, followed by an excellent dinner...

We made it!
posted September 17, 2005 by Holly Hayes

Greetings from Oxford! I would have liked to post earlier but there is an administrative issue with our in-room internet access that won't be solved until mid-week. Argh. So this is written from an internet cafe, and will accordingly be picture-free, sadly...
