Opheus
Roman mosaic pavement featuring Orpheus, 3rd-4th century AD. Opheus is shown in the countryside near a tree and rocks, wearing a Phrygian cap and playing a lyre. Around him are wild animals tamed by his music: bull, lion, boar, deer, panther, fox, gazelle and birds. Found in 1934 in Trinquetaille near the current Avenue de Camargue. Inv. FAN 92 00 406.
