St. Paul to Sioux Falls

*Wednesday, May 20, 2009 St. Paul, MN - Sioux Falls, SD 271 miles (4 hours)* Our last day in Minnesota had been ridiculously hot (a high of 97 degrees, which broke the previous record of 88) and the wind blew hard all night, so we didn't sleep much in our south-facing, second-floor bedroom. We took our time getting packed up Wednesday morning, but around 11:30 we reluctantly said goodbye to Grandma and Tiger and got back on the road...

Some Minnesota and Wisconsin Tourism

Downtown St. Paul, Minnesota We didn't do a whole lot of sightseeing in Minnesota since we were mainly there to visit with Grandma and other family, but we did find time to see some historic places in St. Paul, the biggest mall in the country, and some beautiful nature in Wisconsin. The Twin Cities St. Paul (pop. 287,000) and Minneapolis (pop...

We saw a bit of historic St. Paul, shopped at the Mall of the America, visited some relatives, toured Grandma's beautiful property in Wisconsin, and just enjoyed Grandma's company sitting around the kitchen table...

*Day 4 Tuesday, May 12, 2009 Miles City, MT - Fargo, ND 464 miles (6 hr 24 min)* After a nearly inedible breakfast at the Holiday Inn in Miles City, we set out for our last full day of driving before arriving at Grandma's. North Dakota wasn't quite as flat as we expected and the landscape was quite pretty, but there wasn't much to see along the way...

Day 3 Monday, May 11, 2009 Missoula, MT - Miles City, MT 488 miles (7 hours) Day 3 started out with a unique and tasty breakfast of walnut, mushroom and zucchini quiche at our B&B. The rest of the day was spent driving across Montana - it's a big state! The landscape was beautiful and mountainous most of the way, especially on the west side...

Spokane to Missoula

Day 2 Sunday, May 10, 2009 Spokane, WA - Northern Idaho - Missoula, MT 197 miles (3 hours) After the long first day's drive, we decided to take the second day a little easier. That left us more time to hang out in Spokane in the morning, make some leisurely stops in Idaho, and see some of Missoula when we arrived in the evening. It was a nice, relaxing day...
