II Surgeon's house, now hotel. c1840-50 for (?)G.B. Batho. Flemish bond brickwork with slate roof. Two storeys and cellar, 3 bays, four bays deep. Central bay set slightly forward with inset portico; two Tuscan columns and pilasters in antis, and fielded panels to frieze. Fanlight to inner door. Sixteen-paned sash windows with gauged brick lintels. Roof hipped, with tall gable stacks. Round headed doorways to left side and rear. Interior: Reception rooms tall, with cornices and central ceiling motifs. Stair of 1840-50.
