Barbara Stagg (rugbytn@highland.net) commented on June 27, 2013:

“Historic Rugby is indeed open to the public - has been since 1966. The National Trust for Historic Preservation considers it one of the best preserved rural villages in America.
Today visitors will find some 18 original historic buildings and six historically reconstructed buildings gracing the heavily wooded landscape on a point between two free-flowing small rivers on the Cumberland Plateau of East Tennessee. Visitor services include a national award winning Rugby history film in a 110-seat theatre, guided visits to four historic museum buildings, lodging in historic buildings, dining at a full service restaurant, several regional craft and antique shops, audio tours of the historic cemetery and an Appalachian homeplace in the forest, hiking trails into the surrounding river gorges and year round special events and workshops.
